54 BBY - Birth on Dathomir

Born to Mother Talzin, leader of the Nightsisters. He grows up as a Nightbrother alongside his brothers Feral and Savage Opress.

~40 BBY - Taken by Darth Sidious

Sidious, once Talzin's ally, takes the angry young Zabrak from Dathomir to become his secret Sith apprentice. Talzin swears she will have her revenge.

~40 BBY - Training as a Sith

Maul is trained as a Sith warrior and assassin and builds his own double-bladed lightsaber. On Malachor, Sidious makes him breathe the ashes of fallen Sith, and the visions leave him hungry for revenge on the Jedi.

~33 BBY - Hunting on Twon Ketee

While restless for action, Maul hunts rathtars and stalks Jedi on Coruscant. Sidious warns him to stay hidden until the time is right.

~33 BBY - The Padawan Eldra Kaitis

With a crew of bounty hunters led by Cad Bane, Maul tracks down a captured Padawan who is up for auction. He kills her on Drazkel's moon, then kills the crime boss Xev Xrexus to protect the Sith's secret.

33 BBY - Kwenn

Sidious sends Maul to Kwenn while the pirate Zilastra plots against members of the Jedi Council. There he confronts the Jedi outpost's seneschal, Voh.

32 BBY - Duel on Tatooine

Maul tracks Queen Amidala to Tatooine with his probe droids and attacks Qui-Gon Jinn. It is the first time in a millennium that the Jedi have faced a Sith, and Jinn barely escapes.

32 BBY - Battle of Naboo

In the Theed power generator, Maul fights Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi and kills Jinn. Kenobi then cuts him in half and he falls down a reactor shaft, presumed dead. Sidious replaces him with Count Dooku.

32 BBY - Exile on Lotho Minor

Kept alive by his hatred, Maul ends up on a junk world. He builds himself a spider-like six-legged body and slowly loses his mind.

~20 BBY - Found by Savage Opress

During the Clone Wars, Savage Opress finds his brother with a talisman from Talzin. Talzin's magick restores Maul's mind and gives him cybernetic legs.

~20 BBY - Revenge on Kenobi

Maul massacres villagers on Raydonia to draw Kenobi out, then duels him aboard a tanker. He takes Savage as his apprentice.

~20 BBY - Skirmish on Florrum

The brothers kill Adi Gallia but are beaten by Kenobi and Hondo Ohnaka's pirates. They barely escape the crash of their ship.

~19 BBY - The Shadow Collective

Maul brings Death Watch, Black Sun, the Pyke Syndicate and the Hutts together into a criminal alliance. He uses it to seize Mandalore and makes Almec his puppet prime minister.

~19 BBY - Battle of Mandalore

Darth Sidious arrives and kills Savage Opress. He defeats and captures Maul to use him against his own allies.

19 BBY - Second Battle of Dathomir

Maul escapes Sidious and regroups his syndicates. In retaliation, Sidious sends Grievous to Dathomir, and Talzin dies protecting her son.

19 BBY - Siege of Mandalore

Maul sets a trap to lure Anakin Skywalker and Kenobi to Mandalore, but Ahsoka Tano leads the Republic forces instead. She captures him as the Jedi Purge begins.

19 BBY - Escape During Order 66

Maul breaks free when the clones turn on Ahsoka aboard their Venator. He flees as the ship crashes.

~18 BBY - The Shadow Lord

Now hunted by the Inquisitors, who call him "the Shadow," Maul works to rebuild his criminal empire in secret, away from the new Empire's eyes.

10 BBY - Master of Crimson Dawn

From behind the scenes, Maul controls the Crimson Dawn syndicate through Dryden Vos. After Vos is killed, he summons Qi'ra to take her place at his side.

3 BBY - Mission to Malachor

Maul reaches the Malachor Sith Temple, forms an alliance with Ezra Bridger and blinds Kanan Jarrus. He escapes after Darth Vader arrives.

2 BBY - Holocrons and Visions

Maul takes the Ghost crew hostage to force Ezra to join a holocron fusion. Through their shared vision, he learns that Obi-Wan Kenobi is alive.

2 BBY - Death on Tatooine

Maul follows Ezra to Tatooine and faces Kenobi one last time. Kenobi cuts him down in a single exchange, and Maul dies in Kenobi's arms, hoping the Chosen One will avenge them.
